Mechatronic Engineering, School of Engineering

Motorola Gold Medal & Prize

AEM Holdings Prize

Gold Certificate of Achievement in CCA

Jeffrey was posted to Normal (Technical) stream of Bishan Park Secondary School. It was here that his life turned around, when he unexpectedly won a prize for doing well in a Mathematics test.

"The Teacher praised me and gave me a blue mechanical pencil as a reward. Although it was inexpensive, it meant the world to me because that was the first time I'd won a prize for my studies", he recalled.

Somehow, the little pencil did the trick of motivating him, when everybody else had failed. A new Jeffrey was born - he stated working hard and from then on, constantly topped his class.

Upon completing his N-levels, Jeffrey joined ITE Bukit Batok. With his good results from ITE, he got a place in NP's Diploma in Mechatronic Engineering.

The 22 years old aims to obtain a degree in Mechanical Engineering and looking forward to work as a Research Engineer.

21st World Scout Jamboree

From the 26th of July to the 12th of August, I had the wonderful opportunity of representing not only my school but my nation as well in the 21st World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) held in Hylands Park, Chalmsford Essex in the United Kingdom(UK). It was a special memorable event as we celebrated the centenary of scouting which was held at Brownsea Island in the UK.

On the 1st of August, we celebrated Sunrise day as it was the exact date that our founder, Lord Baden Powell of Gillwell started Scouting in 1907 with 20 boys of different backgrounds. Today, Scouting is the largest and most vibrant youth organisation in the world. With over 28 million scouts all over the world, 40 000 of us from all 156 countries gathered for the largest ever WSJ.

I had a wonderful opportunity making new friends and learning new cultures from scouts all over the world. It was also fun to learn about scouting activities from other countries. This was a major eye-opener as I realised that scouting was more than just discipline, footdrills and pioneering. It is about making every scout an all-rounder.

There were many activities that taught us about the pressing issues of the world today - from conserving to recycling, anti-racism to global peace. I even had the chance to see His Royal Highness Prince William up close.

There were also activities for survival, endurance and team work. All in all, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am sure will always remain close to my heart.
